American Rugby

Yes, there is rugby union in America. Our national rugby authority is USA Rugby, which answers to the US Olympic Committee and the International Rugby Board, in Dublin. USA Rugby sanctions rugby union teams at the youths, high school college and local level. Non-school clubs are organized in a complicated structure that groups teams according to their location. As many as 100,000 American men and women regularly play rugby in matches sanctioned by USA Rugby.

We have a national team, the USA Eagles. You can keep up with them through the website ThisIsAmericanRugby.com, which provides admirably complete coverage of American rugby at every level.

Quadriplegic wheelchair users have their own variation of rugby, quad rugby. It was the subject of a popular 2005 documentary called Murderball.

If you’d like to see live rugby in your area, use this geographical finder from USA Rugby. TigerRugbyTtube has a great YouTube Channel full of American Rugby, and fine Facebook fan page.
