In Our Universe

Many of the places and things in our books really exist, and here at www.MacTamicksFinestScotchLtd.com we have compiled some background information about them.

Scotland is Ian’s home, and it would almost be appropriate to to say that Scotland is Ian’s soul, as well. His character was formed by the desolate beauty of the Highlands and the brisk, workaday life of Edinburgh. Making Scotch Whiskey is his profession — which he enjoys — but the bagpipes are his passion. He’ll happily introduce them to you on his playlist, and while you’re at it, show you a bit of bagpipe rock.

Ireland, of course, was the first home of the Faerie Circle. It has, as most of us know, a particularly tragic history, an amazing storytelling tradition and a luminous music tradition. The people there remember the Faeries, even if they get some of the details wrong.

Georgia, where the Faeries live now, is one of the thirteen original colonies and the largest state east of the Mississippi River. It’s mountainous in the north, swampy in the southeast and mostly flat in the middle. The jewel of Georgia is Atlanta, the “Queen City of the South.”

Last, but not least, let us consider rugby, that most demanding of sports. This page explain the basics and steers you to some excellent rugby union on YouTube. Here you can learn about real-life American Rugby, including matches near where you live.
